Akron Municipal Court Announces Offsite Wedding Venues, Themes for the Remainder of 2022

The Akron Municipal Court is partnering with six local venues to offer weddings for couples for the remainder of 2022. The six local venues are: Jilly’s Music Room, Cascade Locks Park, the Akron Civic Theatre, the Summit County Historical Society, Swensons Drive-In and the Hower House Museum.

All venues are indoor facilities with the exception of Cascade Locks Park and Swensons Drive-In.

  • Jilly’s Music Room | 111 N. Main Street in Akron
    • Friday, September 30, 2022 from Noon to 1:30 p.m.
    • Judge who will be officiating ceremonies: Administrative/Presiding Judge Nicole Walker
  • Cascade Locks Park | 57 W. North Street in Akron (Also known commonly as The Mustill Store)
    • Friday, October 14, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to Noon
    • Judge who will be officiating ceremonies: Judge Jon Oldham
    • Weddings will overlap with the venue’s weekly Free Lunch Friday event which takes place 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The venue will be giving away grilled hot dogs and featuring a musician on-site during this timeframe.
  • Akron Civic Theatre | 182 S. Main St. in Downtown Akron
    • Monday, October 31, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to Noon
    • Judge who will be officiating ceremonies: Judge David Hamilton
    • These weddings will be Halloween themed. Costumes are encouraged.
  • Summit County Historical Society’s Perkins Stone Mansion | 550 Copley Rd. in Akron
    • Monday, October 31, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
    • Judge who will be officiating ceremonies: Administrative/Presiding Judge Ron Cable
    • These weddings will be Halloween themed. Costumes are encouraged.
  • Hower House Museum | University of Akron Campus | 60 Fir Hill in Akron
    • Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
    • Judge who will be officiating ceremonies: Administrative/Presiding Judge Ron Cable
    •  The Hower House will be decorated for the holiday season.
  • Swensons Drive-In | West Akron location | 40 S. Hawkins Avenue in Akron
    • Friday, December 9, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
    • Judge who will be officiating ceremonies: Administrative/Presiding Judge Ron Cable
    • This location will be decorated for the holiday season. Each ceremony will take place outside with a decorated holiday tree behind the couple.
  • Hower House Museum | University of Akron Campus | 60 Fir Hill in Akron
    • Wednesday, December 14, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
    • Judge who will be officiating ceremonies: To be determined
    • The Hower House will be decorated for the holiday season.

Appointments are first-come, first-served and must be scheduled and paid for before the date of the ceremony. Time slots will not be added once all appointments are booked.

Prior to the ceremony, couples must obtain a marriage license from Summit County Probate Court. They then must pay a cash-only ceremony fee at the Akron Municipal Court in the Harold K. Stubbs Justice Center, located at 217 S. High St. in Downtown Akron between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The fee is $25 for those in the court’s jurisdiction, Akron, Fairlawn, Bath, Richfield, Springfield Township, Lakemore and the Summit County portion of Mogadore. There is a $40 fee for those residing outside the jurisdiction.

It is suggested to contact the Akron Municipal Court’s Chief Service Bailiff Patricia Williams at (330) 375-2592 to ensure space is still available before obtaining a marriage license or for any further questions regarding scheduling.
