Criminal

The two types of criminal cases are: Misdemeanors and Felonies. Each has different corresponding punishments.

Criminal cases involve enforcing public codes of behavior. Punishment in criminal cases can include fines, probation, community service or jail time. In criminal cases where the charge is a misdemeanor or felony, if the defendant cannot afford an attorney, the court will appoint one without cost to the defendant.
